Hi all, we design contemporary tailored coats using heavy British and Irish wools. While the outer drape is classic, our UK customers demand better rain and wind protection for urban commuting. We are seeking a supplier for an ultra-thin, noiseless 2-layer or 3-layer breathable membrane lining (membrane + soft backing, total weight < 70 GSM) that can be drop-lined into wool coats without making the jacket feel stiff or noisy when walking.Any recommendations for high-performance lining mills with low MOQs?

We are looking for:

Fabric: Water-repellent (PFC-free DWR) 100% Recycled Polyester or Nylon for structured trench coats (200–250 GSM).

Compliance & Data: Supplier MUST be able to provide verified GRS certificates, Transaction Certificates (TCs) for every shipment, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA/PEF) data regarding water and carbon footprint.

with A4 swatch memo available.

Can any accredited mills provide their compliance documentation and swatches?

Specific Requirements:
Performance: Hydrostatic head ≥ 10,000mm, Breathability ≥ 10,000 g/m²/24h.
Eco-Compliance: PFC-free DWR (C0 coating) or recycled membrane (GRS / OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified).
Hand-feel: Matte, soft cotton-touch or recycled polyester/nylon blend (avoiding noisy rustling sound).
MOQ: Small batch production friendly (800–500m per colorway) with initial A4 sample swatches / 5m sample yardage available.
Does anyone have recommended mills or suppliers who specialize in high-performance eco-textiles with lower MOQs? Appreciate any leads or swatch book suggestions!

I’m exploring ways to modernise heavy wool outerwear without turning it into a stiff plastic-feeling garment:

What are the best lightweight, breathable windproof linings (e.g., 2-layer ultra-thin TPU or soft wind-stop barrier) that won't distort the drape of structured tweed coats?

Has anyone had success applying bio-based water-repellent sprays/treatments to raw or recycled wool yarns prior to weaving/knitting without affecting the natural softness and breathability?

Would love to hear how other heritage or outdoor designers balance traditional natural fibers with modern weatherproofing techniques!

We are working on down jackets, but the fabric fails the tumble test for downproofness. What key finishing parameters (e.g., cire/calendering temperature or coating density) should we ask our mill to monitor?
